Every year the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) offers pupils (age 15+) the opportunity to apply for a 4-week internship at a participating research-related company or research institutions. In their summer holidays selected pupils have the chance to gain an insight into the fascinating world of science and technology and to see how research is applied in practice. Melanie Tomintz and Bernhard Kosar (researchers at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences) applied successfully to the FFG program and appointed Fabio Ziegler (out of all applications) the internship to work on the research project SALUD. Main tasks of his internship was included improvements on the project website simSALUD.org and the development of new functionalities of the simulation framework. Further he was introduced in the world of Geoinformation science with its variety of projects that are carried out from the research institute. In autumn 2014 Fabian will start his final school year at the HTL-Mössingerstraße in Klagenfurt.
The team would like to thank Fabio for his motivation and good work and wishes him all the best and for the future.
